James Reed was born at Ash Green, Trentham (Staffordshire) NSW on 14 December 1808 and died at North Bourke NSW on 30 January 1898. Frances Heazle was born at Canterbury (England) in about 1812 and died at Bourke NSW on 5 April 1895. They had been married at Monkwearmouth, Sunderland, England on 28 June 1830. They share one of the most prominent memorials in the in Bourke Historic Cemetery where they are buried. This is befitting their status of Bourke pioneers, having brought their family there in 1862, just a few months after the town was started.
Many of their descendants are also buried in the same cemetery, including six children and their spouses and several grandchildren. Click here for more details about family members buried in this cemetery.
